About ORIGINS RESEARCH INSTITUTE, Inc.
The idea of studying the interrelationships between the languages and cultures of the world was born out of a personal observation in interacting and working with friends and co-workers from different cultural backgrounds. This observation led to a groundbreaking article titled Parameterization of Ancient Civilizations Using Unique Identifiers, which was posted at www.i-lang.com on February 5, 2006. I-lang stands for international languages.
About one month later, in its March 2006 issue, the National Geographic Magazine published the results of the National Geographic Society’s Genographic Project. The magazine called the report "The Greatest Journey Ever Told, The Trail of Our DNA." The report suggests that Omo Kibish in the Omo Valley of Ethiopia is the source of humanity that is today dispersed to various corners of the world. The report made our previous observations about the interrelationships between languages and cultures even more interesting. Subsequently, OMO KIBISH became a symbolic name of this research effort.
The interest has now grown beyond the study of the interrelationships between the languages and cultures of the world to the study of the origin of languages and other interesting subjects, such as humanity’s shared experiences and new endeavors. Thus, we decided to go beyond the symbolic name of OMO KIBISH to form ORIGINS RESEARCH INSTITUTE. We hope that a close study of languages, cultures, the environment, and related subjects using mathematical analysis will help give answers to the quest to understand humanity’s common past better.
Surely, this is an ambitious undertaking, but we have confidence that with the active participation of bi-lingual and other interested scholars, a meaningful mapping of the world’s languages, better understanding of our common past as well as the environment we live in are achievable because we feel that we have a grasp on the source.
If you are interested in contributing to this effort, don't hesitate to contact us for a possible collaboration in this worthwhile undertaking.
